India vs Pakistan Head to Head in T20I Cricket

India and Pakistan have met 17 times in T20 Internationals, the first in 2007 and the latest on 15 February 2026. India have won 14 of those meetings and Pakistan 3. That leaves India 11 clear in the fixture. India's highest total against Pakistan is 192, against a best of 182 the other way. Their lowest completed totals are 119 and 83 respectively. It began at Kingsmead on 14 September 2007, and cricket has not managed anything quite like it since. India 141 for 9, Pakistan 141 for 7, Misbah-ul-Haq run out off the final ball, and a tie that nobody in the ground knew how to react to. The rules said bowl-out. Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Robin Uthappa each hit the stumps; Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi each missed. Three-nil. No World Cup match before or since has been settled that way, and the Super Over arrived soon afterwards to make sure none ever is again.

Ten days later they were back, this time in the final at the Wanderers. India had 157 for 5 to defend and Pakistan needed six from four balls with Misbah on strike. He tried the scoop off Joginder Sharma, Sreesanth held it at short fine leg, and MS Dhoni had a world title in his first tournament as captain.

Bilateral cricket between the two has all but vanished since. Pakistan's short tour of India in December 2012 produced the only two T20Is either has played against the other outside a tournament, and they shared them - Pakistan by five wickets in Bengaluru on Christmas Day, India by 11 runs in Ahmedabad three days later. That Ahmedabad total of 192 for 5 has never been bettered by either side in this fixture. Everything else has come at an ICC event or an Asia Cup: Colombo in 2012, Dhaka in 2014, the 2016 Asia Cup game in Dhaka where Pakistan folded for 83, and the rain-shortened World T20 tie in Kolkata a month later.

Pakistan finally got their World Cup night on 24 October 2021 in Dubai. Shaheen Shah Afridi took out Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul inside the first over, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan did the rest without being parted, and 152 was knocked off for the loss of nothing. It is the only ten-wicket result anyone has posted in these games. They won again in the 2022 Asia Cup Super Fours, Mohammad Nawaz pushed up the order for 42 from 20 as Pakistan overhauled 181 - and their 182 for 5 that night is still the biggest score anyone has made batting second here. Seven weeks later, at the MCG in front of a crowd past 90,000, Virat Kohli made 82 not out and took India home off the last ball. Nobody has scored more in a match between these two.

India have not lost to Pakistan in the format since. They defended 119 in New York in 2024. They won all three meetings at the 2025 Asia Cup in Dubai, a tournament played through refused handshakes and a trophy presentation nobody could agree on - and the last of those was the first Asia Cup final the two countries had ever contested, settled by five wickets after Kuldeep Yadav's 4 for 30 turned Pakistan from 113 for 1 into 146 all out and Tilak Varma finished it with 69 not out. Then Colombo, 15 February 2026: Ishan Kishan 77 from 40, 175 for 7, Pakistan bowled out for 114, and a 61-run win - India's widest margin by runs over Pakistan in the format.
