How to play Super Over Challenge
Super Over Challenge is a free cricket batting game you play in your browser. Just like a real T20 super over, you get 6 balls and 2 wickets to chase down a target. The bowler runs in, the ball is delivered, and you have a fraction of a second to pick your shot and time it. Clear the rope for six, find the gap for four, or lose your stumps and your chance.
How to play
- Choose today's daily challenge or a practice over on Easy, Medium or Hard.
- Watch the bowler's run-up and the ball out of the hand.
- Press Ground (Space or ↓) for a safer shot along the ground, worth up to four.
- Press Loft (↑) to go aerial. A clean loft is a six, but a mistimed one can be caught.
- Reach the target before the 6 balls run out or you lose 2 wickets.
Timing is everything
Each shot is judged on when you press, measured in milliseconds against the perfect moment the ball reaches your hitting zone. After every ball the timing meter shows whether you were early or late and by how much. Perfect timing slows the action down as the ball flies off the bat. Early shots go to the leg side towards mid-wicket and square leg, late shots go to the off side through cover and point, and badly mistimed shots find the edge. If you miss a straight ball, you are bowled.
Know the deliveries
- Full and good length balls are your scoring chances.
- Yorkers land at your toes. They are hard to time and very hard to hit for six.
- Bouncers climb to chest height. They are tough to keep along the ground but can be pulled into the stands.
- Slower balls come out of the same run-up but arrive later, which punishes an early swing.
- Spin is slower through the air and turns after pitching.
- The odd wide gives you a free run and an extra ball.
The daily challenge
Today's challenge #1 asks you to chase 19 against Shakib Al Hasan, one of the leading wicket-takers in T20 international cricket. Everyone faces exactly the same six deliveries, so you can compare your result with friends. Bowlers rotate every day, and spinners and fast bowlers each bring their own mix of deliveries.
Tips to win the super over
- Read the run-up, not just the ball. Time from the release, and stay ready for a slower ball.
- Pick your moments to loft. If you need about a run a ball, keep it on the ground and save the loft for the ball you time best.
- Do not loft yorkers. Even a perfect connection on a yorker only goes for four.
- Leave the wide ones. Swinging at a wide gains nothing, while leaving a straight ball can cost your wicket.
