How to play Cricket Grid

Cricket Grid is a free daily cricket trivia puzzle in the style of Immaculate Grid. You get a 3×3 grid where every row and every column has a condition, such as a team, a country, a career milestone or a playing role. Your task is to name one cricketer for each square who satisfies both its row and its column, using no more than 9 guesses.

How to play Cricket Grid

  1. Tap any empty square in the grid.
  2. Search for a cricketer who matches both the row and the column, for example someone who played for CSK and took 100+ Test wickets.
  3. A correct answer fills the square with that player. A wrong answer still uses up a guess.
  4. Each cricketer can only be used once, so plan your picks across the whole grid.
  5. When you run out of guesses or fill all nine squares, see your score, your rarity and every valid answer.

Scoring and rarity

Your score is the number of squares you fill, out of nine. A full grid is an Immaculate grid. Every correct answer also shows its rarity: the share of all players who picked the same cricketer for that square. Add up your nine rarity numbers, counting 100 for any empty square, and you get your rarity score. The lower it is, the more original your grid. Picking the obvious superstar is safe; picking a forgotten journeyman is how you top the rarity charts.

Teams that can appear

Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals. A cricketer counts for a team if they appeared for that side in any recorded match.

Countries that can appear

India, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies. Country squares use the cricketer's nationality.

Tips for a better grid

  • Start with the hardest square. Save your flexible all-time greats for squares that have few options.
  • Think about franchise moves. Many IPL stars have played for three or more teams, which makes them great for team-by-team squares.
  • Overseas players unlock country squares. Australians, South Africans and New Zealanders have featured for almost every IPL side.
  • Go rare when you are sure. A correct but unusual pick lowers your rarity score far more than a famous one.
