England vs India Head to Head in T20I Cricket
England and India have met 35 times in T20 Internationals, the first in 2007 and the latest on 11 July 2026. India have won 18 and England 16, with 1 ending without a result. India lead by 2. England's highest total against India is 257 and India's is 253. Their lowest completed totals are 80 and 76. All of it is laid out match by match above. Last updated 25 August, 2026.
Their first meeting produced the most replayed over in the sport. Kingsmead, 19 September 2007, group stage of the first World T20: Yuvraj Singh hit Stuart Broad for six sixes and made 58 from 16 balls, India posted 218 for 4 and won by 18 runs. The fixture has never really lost that character. It is consistently among the highest-scoring in the format, and both sides have now passed 250 against the other.
World Cup knockouts have split evenly and emphatically. At Adelaide Oval in November 2022 England chased 169 in the semi-final without losing a wicket, Jos Buttler and Alex Hales taking 16 overs over it - the only ten-wicket result anyone has posted in these games. India replied at Providence in Guyana in June 2024, posting 171 for 7 in awkward conditions and bowling England out for 103 to win by 68 runs on the way to the title.
Bilateral series have gone to whoever is at home. India won 4-1 in January and February 2025, closing with a 150-run win at Mumbai where they made 247 for 9 and bowled England out for 97. England answered in July 2026 with a clean sweep of all four completed matches after the opener at Chester-le-Street was washed out: India shot out for 76 at Nottingham - the lowest total anyone has posted in these games - and then 257 for 3 at Southampton, the biggest either side has made against the other, for a 56-run win.
