According to reports, Rohit Sharma will be the new Captain of Mumbai Indias in IPL 2027. Tilak Varma will be the vice-captain.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indias won the IPL in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. He is the most successful Captain of the IPL. From 2024 to 2026, Hardik Pandya led MI Paltan. But MI did not perform well according to expectations.

Rohit Sharma as MI Captain:

Rohit led MI in 158 games in the IPL. Out of these games, he won 87 and lost 67. 4 games ended with no result. He last led MI in IPL 2023. In that season, his team qualified for the playoffs. After this, he has been playing as a player.

Former India Captain’s possible return as Captain could give a fresh start for Mumbai Indians. The team has not won an IPL trophy since 2020. The team management will be hoping that Rohit's experience can help Mumbai return to their winning ways.

According to the latest update, Tilak Varma could become the vice-captain of Mumbai Indians for IPL 2027. The young left-handed batter has established himself as a big player for both Mumbai Indians and Team India. Giving him a leadership role could also help the franchise prepare for the future.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya's future with Mumbai Indians remains uncertain. Reports suggest that the franchise is discussing a possible trade deal involving the all-rounder. However, an official announcement regarding his future is still awaited.

Another major development at Mumbai Indians is the change in their coaching staff. Former MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been appointed as the new head coach for IPL 2027. Robin Uthappa will work as the batting coach, while Mitchell McClenaghan will take charge of the bowling department.

Rohit's return could be a crucial decision for the five-time champions. His knowledge of the Mumbai Indians dressing room and experience of winning big matches could prove to have a big impact.

However, Mumbai Indians have not officially confirmed their Captain for IPL 2027. MI Fans will be waiting for the team announcement ahead of the new season.
