Ruturaj Gaikwad looks in excellent touch during India's practice session in New Zealand ahead of the upcoming ODI series. The Indian batter spends extra time at the centre wicket and in the nets on Day 1 of practice. He focuses on improving his batting and preparing for the five-match ODI series against New Zealand.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Performace in Recent ODI Series

Gaikwad comes into the series after a decent performance against West Indies. In the third ODI at New Chandigarh on October 3, 2026, he scored 57 runs off 69 balls. He also finished the three-match series with 101 runs.

The right-handed batter has played 12 ODI matches so far and scored 329 runs. His last ODI century came on December 3, 2025, in Raipur. He continues to work towards earning a regular place in India's playing XI.

Ruturaj made his ODI debut against South Africa in Lucknow on October 6, 2022. Since then, he has had limited opportunities in the Indian ODI team. His performances show his ability to contribute with the bat, but regular chances remain important for his progress.

The return of Shreyas Iyer also makes competition for the middle-order spots tougher. Gaikwad may have to wait for his opportunity in the playing XI. However, his recent batting form gives him confidence ahead of the New Zealand tour.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Might Play 4th and 5th ODI vs New Zealand:

There is a possibility that Gaikwad gets an opportunity in the fourth or fifth ODI because some players from the ODI player will not be available at that time. They will prepare for the Test series.

With the New Zealand ODI series approaching, Ruturaj Gaikwad aims to make the most of his opportunities. Apert from international cricket, he has been leading Chennai Super Kings(CSK) in the IPL since 2024.
