Gareth Batty is now the new batting coach of Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2027. Under his coaching, Batty led Surrey to titles and has coached MI London in The Hundred.

Batty will replace Michael Hussey in this job. Hussey served as CSK's batting coach from 2018 to 2026. During his coaching, the Yellow Army won 3 IPL trophies in 2018, 2021 and 2023. He played 64 games and scored 2,213 runs at a strike rate of 40.98.

Surrey has confirmed that head coach Gareth Batty is leaving the Club to join Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The Club thanked him for his impact. He had a very successful tenure with this team. As head coach, he won three trophies from 2022 to 2024.

The Yellow Brigade has been struggling in the IPL since last 3 years in the Indian Premier League. They have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2024 IPL season under Ruturaj Gaikwad's captaincy.

Chennai also announced the departure of long-serving coaching and support staff members Michael Hussey, Eric Simons, Rajiv Kumar, Tommy Simsek and Gregory King in a social media post.

Batty will have the responsibility of improving CSK’s batting unit ahead of IPL 2027. His experience in domestic cricket and franchise leagues could help the team improve its batting performance. CSK will hope his guidance helps young players develop and senior players maintain consistency throughout the tournament.

The upcoming season will be important for Chennai Super Kings as they aim to return to the playoffs. The team management will look to build a balanced squad and improve its recent performances. Fans will be eager to see how the new coaching management influences CSK’s plan in IPL 2027.
