Team India has announced their ODI and Test squads for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declaring the selections on October 16, 2026. The five-match ODI series will start on November 4, followed by a two-match Test series starting November 19.

Shubman Gill will captain India in the first three ODIs, while Shreyas Iyer will lead the team in the fourth and fifth matches. Iyer has also been selected as vice-captain for the first 3 games.

The selection committee has announced diffrent squads for the two parts of the ODI series, allowing changes as the team prepares for the Test matches.

Gill, Rohit and Kohli Included in ODI Squads

Star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been included in both ODI squads. KL Rahul will feature in the first three matches, while Ishan Kishan is named in the entire series.

After coming in, Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad are still part of the ODI team for his consistent performance. Ruturaj scored his last hundred vs South Africa in December 2025.

For the final two ODIs, Tilak Varma, Auqib Nabi, Kumar Kushagra and Yash Thakur are included.

Test Squad Also Announced

Gill will lead India in the two-match Test series, with KL Rahul appointed vice-captain. The team includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Washington Sundar. The first Test will begin in Wellington on November 19, while the second is scheduled to start in Christchurch on November 27.

The New Zealand tour will give India an opportunity to test its squad depth across both white-ball and red-ball cricket, with leadership responsibilities shared between Gill and Iyer during the ODI series. This series is going to be really exciting between both teams.
