Their first meeting, a four-day Test at Lord's in July 2019, was among the most extraordinary matches the ground has staged. England, fresh from winning the World Cup, were bowled out for 85 on the opening morning - Tim Murtagh 5 for 13 - and Ireland led by 122 on first innings. England then made 303 second time round and bowled Ireland out for 38 in 15.4 overs to win by 143 runs, Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes sharing the wickets.
The two met again at Lord's in June 2023, England winning by ten wickets inside three days. Ireland have played very few Tests since gaining status in 2017, and this remains one of the shortest Test records in the game.
