India and Zimbabwe have faced each other in 11 Test matches, the first in 1992 and the latest beginning on 20 September 2005. India have won 7 and Zimbabwe 2, with 2 drawn or ended without a result. Zimbabwe's inaugural Test series as a full member included India, and the first meeting at Harare Sports Club in October 1992 was drawn after Zimbabwe made 456 in their first innings. India did not beat them until their fourth attempt.
Zimbabwe have two Test wins over India, both at Harare, in 1998 and 2001 - more than they have managed against several stronger opponents.
There has been no Test between them since September 2005. Zimbabwe gave up their Test status voluntarily between 2006 and 2011, and the fixture has never been restored.
