Bangladesh's inaugural Test match was against India, at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in November 2000. They made 400 in their first innings - Aminul Islam 145 on debut as a Test nation - before being bowled out for 91 in the second and losing by nine wickets. Few countries have made a more promising start to Test cricket.
India have won every completed Test between the two since. Bangladesh have drawn two, both in Dhaka, but have never beaten India in the format across more than two decades of trying.
India's bowling attacks have generally been too strong in both home and away conditions. The most recent series, in India in September 2024, went 2-0 to the hosts, the second Test at Kanpur won inside two and a half days of playing time after three days were lost to rain.
