Former star player Suresh Raina has shown Interest in coaching the Chennai Super Kings. Recently, on Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube channel, Raina said, “I have expressed my Interest to the CSK management about a coaching role. It’s up to them now. I am ready to contribute in any capacity to win trophies because yellow matters to us.”

Raina scored 5,229 runs for Chennai Super Kings with 33 half-centuries and 1 hundred, the highest. The highest score of this left-handed batter is 100* against Punjab Kings in the 2013 season. He won 4 IPL Trophies as a CSK player in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. He played his last IPL match on 2 October 2021, when Chennai faced Rajasthan in Abu Dhabi.

Suresh Raina announced his retirement from the IPL on 6 September 2022.

Raina's experience includes many IPL seasons with CSK, where he played alongside MS Dhoni and other senior players. His potential coaching role would be a new association with the franchise after his retirement as a player. However, CSK has not confirmed any appointment.

Raina has also been associated with CSK as a former player and team representative. During his time with the franchise, he played a big role in the middle order and contributed to several successful IPL campaigns. He was known for batting at number three and scoring runs in different match stages. His IPL experience includes playing under MS Dhoni's captaincy and being part of the team's title-winning squads.

Raina also represented Gujarat Lions in the IPL during the 2016 and 2017 seasons when CSK was suspended. His experience across many teams could be relevant if he takes up a coaching responsibility. However, there is no official confirmation from Chennai Super Kings regarding his possible appointment.
