Afghanistan vs Ireland Head to Head in ODI Cricket
Afghanistan and Ireland have played 36 One Day Internationals, the first in 2010 and the latest on 15 August 2026. Afghanistan have won 22 and Ireland 13, with 1 ending without a result. Afghanistan's highest total in the fixture is 343, Ireland's 304. Their lowest completed totals are 104 and 100. The complete list of results sits above. Updated 9 September, 2026.
No two sides outside the Test establishment have played each other this often. It began in Rotterdam in July 2010, when Ireland were the senior associate and won by 39 runs, and for most of the next decade the fixture served as the pathway's real contest - five-match series in Greater Noida, Sharjah, Belfast and Dehra Dun, most of them close.
Ireland's best day came at Stormont in July 2016, Ed Joyce making 160 in a 12-run win. Paul Stirling, Rahmat Shah, Joyce, Andy Balbirnie and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have all made multiple hundreds here, which tells you how much cricket the two have played.
The balance has tilted since 2018. Afghanistan won five in a row across 2021 and 2024 in the UAE, and in August 2026 they took all four in Ireland - Rashid Khan's 6 for 34 at Bready, hundreds for Rahmat Shah and Sediqullah Atal at Belfast.
