Pakistan won the first twelve Tests between the two and Bangladesh did not beat them in the format until August 2024 - and then did it twice inside three weeks, in Pakistan. At Rawalpindi they won by ten wickets after bowling Pakistan out for 146 in the second innings, and took the second Test at the same ground by six wickets to complete a 2-0 sweep. Pakistan had never lost a home series to Bangladesh in any format before.
Until then the record had been almost entirely one-way. Bangladesh's best performance in the fixture before 2024 was at Khulna in 2015, where Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim batted them to 555 for 6 and a draw they never looked like losing.
